That darn New Math!

The giant flashing sign said: "End of Work Zone 7 Miles." Then it flashed "7 Minutes until End of Work Zone." The speed limit in the work zone is 45 MPH.

Didn't you know? The Department of Transportation can neither add nor subtract, much less perform other math problems.

my guess is that it's all computer controlled, so blame the consultants

They were accounting for all of the drivers who go 60 mph in the 45 mph zone.

That's why they need four to five workers standing in a huddle - to help each other figure out such higher thinking math questions. Ooops, didn't work.

What's really sad is that some people will look at your post and wonder what you are trying to say.

in all fairness, most of the time the signs say "5 miles to end of work zone, 8 minutes to end of work zone" or something like that
