I knew this was fake!

I made a joke in a previous post about this guy, about my wishing something large would fall on him or some such thing. I took some heat for that.

Well.

Edwards "Bear" Grylls
Discovery Channel
Man v. Wild

Slept in the wilds of the Sierra Nevada -- actually slept at a hotel advertised as “a cosy getaway for families" with the crew.

A smoke machine was brought in to add excitement to a volcano.

Built a Polynesian- style raft using only materials around him, including bamboo and palm leaves for a sail -- except the production crew built the raft, which was then dismantled so that Grylls could be shown constructing it on camera.

Lassoed a 'wild' mustang in the Sierra Nevada -- the horses were actually tame and had been brought in by trailer from a nearby ranch.

I've always told people that he's not out there alone, he's out there with a crew. Some of the shots just seem to be not taken by him and his camera. I dislike him because he's making folks think they can actually survive in the wilderness. Most folks probably wouldn't survive in the park without their Starbucks!

It's Milli Vanilli all over again!

In any TV show, no matter how it looks, there is ALWAYS a cameraman and a sound man -- those are union rules and it don't get on TV if they ain't there. There is also always a producer present.

And, no actor (the talent) EVER does their own stunts, EVER! No matter what they say in interviews or what it says in their bio, no matter what teenage boys tell each other. The insurance companies for the movie or TV show will not allow it -- and you don't make a movie or a TV show with an insurance company. Period.
